PassedZoning law No. 1480
The council voted to take the final vote on zoning law No. 1480, without reading it aloud: adding Chapter 22.82 on affordable homes; tying 22.04 and 22.12 to it; adding 22.34 rules for equipment mounted on the ground; changing 22.36 car and bike parking counts for homes, shops and offices and allowing parking rented apart from a home, in line with the housing plan and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Transit-Oriented Communities Policy; clarifying 22.43 privacy rules for detached backyard homes of two stories or with a second story, including state-exempt ones; and other small changes.
Why The changes implement the city's housing plan and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Transit-Oriented Communities Policy by adding inclusionary housing rules and updating parking standards.
PassedBuying and payment card rules
The council voted to approve the city's rewritten rules for buying things (Administrative Policy 300) and cancel its separate rules for using city payment cards.
Why The city's buying rules were written in 2011, and rising costs and more complex buying have made them hard to use, so the city updated them to fit today's laws and support efficient, green buying.
PassedFood bank donations
The council voted to let the city manager spend $2,000.00 from the city's main day-to-day spending budget for budget year 2026, giving $1,000.00 each to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano and Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa.
