Contra Costa County Iron Horse Corridor Advisory Committee

The Iron Horse Corridor Management Program Advisory Committee was authorized by the Board of Supervisors on July 22, 1997, to assist Contra Costa County in developing a management program for the Iron Horse Corridor. The advisory committee includes seats for one representative from each jurisdiction or unincorporated community along the corridor (Alamo, City of Concord, City of San Ramon, Town of Danville, City of Walnut Creek, and City of Pleasant Hill); a District II seat; a District IV seat, and a seat for East Bay Regional Park District.

The Committee meets at least quarterly, and more frequently when needed.

Traffic Safety Commission

The Traffic Safety Commission conducts and analyzes studies of traffic-related concerns, holds meetings with residents and business owners to hear traffic-related suggestions and concerns, makes recommendations on signage, traffic calming or policy changes, and works with various City departments and other local government agencies to implement recommended changes.

Pleasant Hill residents with experience in professional engineering, traffic safety, or related vocational or professional pursuits that involve a technical and practical understanding of bicycle, pedestrian, vehicular, or transit accommodation are invited to apply.

The Commission generally meets on the 1 nd Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

Traffic Safety Commission Commission-Committee Application Vacancy Notice

The mission of the Commission is to advocate for quality public education in Pleasant Hill. The commission advises the City Council and acts as a conduit between the City and the Mount Diablo Unified School District. Candidates must reside in either Valley View or Pleasant Hill Middle School attendance areas and need not be a City resident.

Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

One unfilled term through April 2028.

How to Learn About Commissions, Committees and Boards

If you are interested in volunteering to serve on a commission, committee or board, but are not familiar with the options, you are encouraged to learn more!

Meetings are open to the public and many stream live online and/or have video recordings of past meetings to view. City administered commissions, committees and boards have webpages with information that can be viewed on the panel on the left. There are also regional committees and boards that have representatives from Pleasant Hill, some appointed by the City Council and some recommended by the City Council and ratified by other agencies. For each City commission, the staff liaison is listed. You are encouraged to contact them to learn more about what the commission is currently working on or other details to help you assess if you think the commission would be a good fit.

Applications and Appointment Process

When vacancies occur, notices of vacancy are published and applications are accepted. The Interview and Nominating Committee (Committee), a sub-committee of the City Council, reviews applications and interviews qualified candidates. The Committee forwards a recommendation to City Council for final appointments, unless the position is a County or regional committee or board, in which case a recommendation is forwarded from City Council to the appropriate governing body for final appointment. A pool of candidates may exist from recent recruitments and applications on file, and the Committee may fill an unexpected vacancy from such a pool.

Online applications for City commissions or committees are provided below, and can be submitted at any time for any of the commissions listed on the form or advertised by the City unless stated otherwise, and will be kept on file for up to one year or until the recruitment period is complete.
